This is a  story of unrequited - or perhaps unrecognised - love - told through a series of poems, all of which are inspired by the author's 'just good friend' , her muse, Each poem is followed by a few lines, explaining the thought or incident that brought it into being, which give the reader and idea of the author's life and surroundings. Her feelings, moods and desires are examined through these verses, all attached to the one person, her friend whom she loves, as she tells him her thoughts and fantasies about him, but in a way which leaves the reader wondering whether the friend ever actually learned how she felt, before this book came into being. You will find yourself hoping that he did, or at least that he has learned about it now!

New Beginnings is a collection of poetry and verses, describing nature, new relationships and a move to Spain. The poems describe how people meet and how relationships grow; how love between two people works.

It also discusses how life decisions are made - whether they're the right ones or wrong ones. The verses discuss 'love at first sight' or at least how people can feel comfortable in each other's company from an early stage after meeting.

Each poem is accompanied by a verse which gives a commentary of the narrators relationship and opinions of the world around them.

A Piece of Me delivers what it promises in its title. Victoria Day-Joel's personal experiences, her nostalgic memories and events in her life, from her childhood to the recent pandemic, have contributed to a book of poems about life, love and learnings. The intensely personal poems reveal the deepest part of Day-Joel. There are poems to resonate with lovers, grandchildren, and even those who think about the world and it's problems. Short and succinct, the poems are easy to comprehend and reverberate with imagery and emotions. You don't have to have a love of poetry to appreciate this particular set of poems.
